MARLIN augmented reality vision system for commercial divers

Turbid waters is a common condition for commerical divers. Some days they cannot see anything on the job. Underwater welding specifically, is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

MARLIN is a vision enhancement system that features:

  • Augmented Reality video projection system
  • Stereoscopic vision with depth perception
  • Real-time vision enhancement
  • Hinge mechanism for removal

MARLIN was designed for 2.009 Product Engineering Processes, the mechanical engineering capstone at MIT by Pink Team 2024. The alpha prototype was delivered in 3 months and showcased at the final pitch on December 10th, 2024.
